Before I found out the official element names, I used my own names for most of the elements:
Firefly: blocky
Amoeba: blubber; lubber
Magic wall: vibrating wall
Boulder: stone
Dirt: ground
Exit: square; box
Rockford: little doll.
Apart from translations, did you use other funny alternatives?

Some names we frequently used in our family (Original name=German nickname=English translation):
Boulder=Stein=stone (obviously due to its graphics)
Dirt=Erde=soil (since moles are digging through it)
Firefly=Wachhund=Watchdog (as they are often used to guard some paths)
Amoeba=Lava=Lava (since the noise reminds a bit of Cauldron's lava caves)
Magic Wall=Schüttelmauer=Shaking Wall (due to its animation)
Magic Wall (alternative name)=Bimmelmauer=Ringing Wall (due to its noise)
Expanding Wall=Klackmauer=clunc wall (due ot its noise)
Slime=Durchfall=falling through (which is what boulders and diamonds do on it, but this is an ambiguous name since Durchfall also means diarrhea )
Dummy=Voodoopuppe=Voodoo Doll (as it pretty much does what those do. As people liked that name, I even used it on my documentations.)
While Glühwürmchen would be the correct translation of Firefly, Germans often call them Feuerfliege, which is a very poor translation. This is probably because it doesn't really look like a real firefly at all.

You know that "closing wall" really is no official name, don't you?Sendy wrote:the closing wall, even if the latter was used only in one solitary cave!
Also my original German names first, then the tries to translate them...
Firefly: Bullermann=bull man (or perhaps you could translate to bullseye, Marek, what do you think? )
Amoeba= Bubbelmasse= bubble mass (also a free translation; in fact, Bullermann and Bubbelmasse aren't really words at all! )
Boulder= Stein=Stone
Dirt=Erde=soil/ground

hi
i also used to call the magic wall "ringing wall". if i try to translate the words from hungarian to english, i called fireflies "monsters", diamonds "rewards", and dirt "hay" (due to its color in afl boulder dash cave 01 and bd1 cave a). and i called the whole game "hay collector" check my post in the "tell your story" topic to see why
i also called the amoeba something like a "blurper", also because of the sound of it.
bye
