At first glance, the box doesn't seem to have any mistakes, but i'll have a guess.

The cover shows Cave F, but it's not possible that the player could have reached that cave and not got any score from the diamonds in Cave E.

Yet, there is one.

Well spotted, though not the answer to my question. They probably cheated, as developers usually have the means to do. Let's just assume, it is possible to start a game with Cave F.

I found another picture of this cover. One difference is in the upper corner of that cover, showing a big "D" instead of "C".

Nothing wrong with that. If you look closely, you will notice that those are the first letters of Disk vs. Cartridge. Both were available for the Atari.

Another hint: There is another difference put in there on purpose between this picture and that one Arno linked.

I think I may have found one of the differences.

In the screenshot of Cave F, there is a boulder pattern to the right of Rockford like this: (O=boulder, --=Dirt)

O--
O--
O--
--O
--O

But in the cover that Arno posted, those 5 boulders are arranged differently, like this:

O--
O--
--O
--O
--O

Here goes:

In No One's redesigned version of BD4, which cave remains completely unchanged in all 5 levels, in comparison to the same cave in Dr Watsons BD4? (This doesn't include the number of diamonds required)

It must've been Cave E, wasn't it?

Yes, that's right. :)

I actually had to double-check myself, but yes, it's cave E.

Your turn, Dustin.

Thanks Mr Escape :)
OK, a little puzzle again:

Give ma a cave (by description or as a picture) with the following properties:
- The cave has the usual cave size (40x22)
- The border consists only of titanium wall (i.e. no exit, startpoint etc. in the border)
- There are exactly 10 diamonds in the cave, exactly one startpoint and exactly one exit. The rest of the cave consists only of dirt and space. No other elements.
- 10 diamonds are required and there's enough time (let's say 250)
- There aren't any special effects (e.g. uncollectable jewels etc.). The cave could be made with any engine.

And now the most important demanded property:

- The cave is unsolvable.

Greets, Dustin

The hatching delay is short enough to let Rockford hatch before the diamonds reach the bottom, but long enough to prevent Rockford from escaping the falling diamonds. A rather slow speed in PLCK or CrLi meets this requirement.

However:
Dustin wrote:The cave could be made with any engine.
My solution probably disqualifies here, as you can't adjust the speed in BD1 and BD2, and I am not allowed to otherwise fill the cave with busy elements which would slow down the cave enough.

The main idea is very good, Logic, but as you stated already, it's not yet fully correctly realised, because the hatching delay is too long in the early engines...

Here is my proposal:

In CrazyLightTools, a cave delay of 6 or higher is required.
