Will the real BD4 please stand up

Post by johnomg »

G'day All :D

Ok, well I'm a bit confused about the History of Boulder Dash and wondering if someone can clarify it for me.

I know there is :
- BD1 (First Star 1984)
- BD2 (First Star 1985)
- BD3 (First Star 1986)
- Boulder Dash Construction Kit (Unknown to me)

Lately I have seen a BD4 mentioned, I assumed that people were talking about the Construction Kit but now I'm not sure.

When people speak about BD4 what are they referring to?

Also, is there an English site which gives a definative history of Boulder Dash or is there one on this site that I have missed?

Regards

Dr. Watson's BD4, maybe? There are many, many maps of caves on Arno's website.

Double Thanks cirix :D

I didn't realise that the Cave Map page on this site listed all the Official Versions at the top, I was purposely avoiding it because I wanted to "discover" the Caves for myself and not sneak a peek at a map.

It probably is the Dr Watson one, the context I have seen it written in made me think it was a "lost" official version or maybe the first arcade version.

I can now see that Fans have been making and distributing their own BD Games for ages and Dr Watson's is probably more commonly refered to as BD4 in the BD Community.

Obviously I'm still learning the Terminology used or as some might say Rockford's Native tongue
