I recently came across a .d64 image with a program called Dr Zoom Packer...It's only a small program, and when I run it, it asks for an input file and then offers some default values (for the sys start of the game, i expect)
I was wondering if anybody knows about the program or how to use it?

have been continuing to experiment with the different versions of the construction kit - I made some caves with the tape version, storing the single caves on individual .TAP files - now to join the individual .TAP files into a single .TAP file, I found that this works which was a bit of a surprise:-...

Has it $565d sta $29 ? That is the cause for garbled memory resulting in crashes or broken caves. If you really intend to use this version, you should change that to nop nop . I always wondered how that instruction ended there. That byte is never read explicitly, but it is part of a table used by t...

Sounds like a hacked tape version to me. Can it be restarted with SYS22969? Then it certainly is. The tape version just loads the caves as they are present on the tape, which is sequential by nature. Since floppy disks are not, they specifically designed the gam files for that kind of media, but no...

something interesting I found....
while looking through some versions of the C64 Boulderdash IV / Construction Kit in CSDB I found one that also includes a game module file that appears to have been patched to not require a GAM file to load the levels....Instead it loads the CAV files in sequential order (they must be named 01.CAV, ...

question about Firrefox11
on the firefox11 disk image, there is a file called boulder-loader that loads and runs the caveset - just one question, can you turn the music of and play with sound effects with this program?...the music is a distraction and you can't hear the timer at the end

While I have always prefered the original BD1 graphic set, I have been working through No One's Boulder 01 - The version on the "Mega Boulder Dash" collection by the Replica Crew (not the Unreal! one with the horrible space theme. Now the 'Mega' version has been assembled with the ghosts/p...

Some of my games are also made that way. While the PLCK already existed at the time I made them, I did it out of curiosity to find out what I could achieve with the BD1 engine, especially as it has some notable differences to PLCK. Those games are Deluxe Caves 1 , 2 , 3 and 4 , as well as Crazy Dre...

Re: Zombie Crackers Masters Boulder Dash
Did you re-use Sijben Soft's version of BD3, or a different game? The colours in Master's BD are almost equal to Sijben Soft's version, but not exactly...! That's an interesting question. Especially as Masters Boulder Dash indeed uses the Microfun version of the BD1 engine (like BD3 does), while BD...

Mr Stack Cave Packer
I have been looking at some of the old BD tools and was wondering what to do with the file "packed by stack" after the caves are packed?

It's an enhanced editor. Bug free engine, more objects, mouse support! Much easier to draw caves with CLCK. You can also use GDash on modern systems (Windows, Unix). Has a great editor and can export as bcff. Works together with CLCK. https://bitbucket.org/czirkoszoltan/gdash what are the bugs in P...
