After consulting my book on Advanced Flowering Arranging my informed opinion is No it's not possible. You get will get stuck on 7,2 or 7,3 depending on what path was taken (unless there is a Particle Physics Law I'm not aware of).

Good Luck with your Exams Arno

I have to be honest that I had to try it out in practice this time... I couldn't believe it, but it is actually possible! But no mistake is permitted.

Here's the solution:
Convention: the coordinate system is chosen so that the boulder at the very top-left has (1,1)
Walk to (2,10) and snap left. Push the boulder by one unit to the right and then by another unit by snapping only. Push the boulder to your left into the bottom-left corner, then push the boulder to your right to free yourself. Now you've got the choice which of the three possible pieces of dirt to remove next. You must first remove the one on (3,7), then walk one step down and immediately left. Walk anothe step down and snap left to remove the (1,9) piece next. Then walk up two steps and you're freed again. Now remove (2,4) next, and finally (3,3). The way is free! (But if you failed to remove (1,9), the way will be blosked!) Fantastic puzzle!!!! :D

Throws his book on Advanced Flower Arranging in the bin.

With my luck the Light at the End of the Tunnel would be a Train speeding towards me

Thanks, Jonh ;-)
Keep cool, there's no train ;-) Tunnel effect means that particles have a random chance to "walk" through walls. In this example this would mean that Rockford might fall through walls and boulders and find himself next to the exit ;-)

Beam me Up (Down, Sideways) Scotty???

Next Arno!!! My answer in advance is: "Yes and All"

I cite the afore-mentioned Tunnel Effect as my reasoning

Yes! I'm done with my exams and now I've got time to look after the forum more frequently... So here is:

PUZZLE #7.

Is this level solvable? You need 17 diamonds.

I'm certain it is. Annoyingly luck depended, but possible.
(Solution in size=0)
Put the left boulder at the left opening and yourself at bottom (or vice versa). Doing this the exact moment all units between those walls are filled with amoeba, and let the firefly go down at the right opening before the amoeba grows out there. It won't explode but the amoeba will convert to diamonds. Collect them and blast the right wall with the firefly to reach the exit.

Very creative solution! Yet I think I've found a quite simple 100% solution. I'll also write it in size=0:
As the intermission has less than 200 units, you can simply kill the fly to open the wall to the outbox immediately and let the amoeba grow all over the cave, can't you? ;-)

Indeed. I wonder what parameters Arno had in mind besides the required diamonds.

Good! :D But I've to wait several weeks for the results... :frusty:

Yes, I could have been more precise be stating that time limit is not sufficient for solutions that let the amoeba grouw out of its fence.

And of course... I should have stated that the yellow substance is amoeba, not slime. ;)

Ah, ok. My exams were all verbal, so I've got my results immediately. Quite ok! :-)

Ah, ok, then Logic's solution is the only one, of course, and it is of course very luck- dependant.

I would find it interesting to discuss about the "best" solution, i.e. the way you get the best chances. I played the level once and I made it as follows:
-I pushed the boulder on (2, 1) to (5, 6)
- I released the fly and trapped it on a square from ((12, 4) to (14, 6)
- I placed the guy on (8, 8 ) .

It worked at the third trial. The first two times the amoeba was too fast and grew out too early. The other luck- dependant thing is that you have to hope that the last unit inside the fence where the amoeba grows is (11, 5), so that it will actually be trapped by the firefly. (I was lucky.)

Or would it be a better solution to trap the amoeba from left and down first, let it grow until the fence is full and only then release the fly and hope that the amoeba won't grow out until fly and guy are on their places?
